Every now and then a small piece of technology has a big effect on my life… a couple of years ago it was the Sky+ box, now it’s the iPhone…
I bought the iPhone in January (purely for R&D purposes!) and within a week I banished my Sony Ericsson W950 to life in a drawer, with 16 months left on it’s contract with Vodafone!
No longer do I have to carry my laptop everywhere I go, I can check up on my emails and calendar from most places, and now the BBC iPlayer works on it I’m even taking it to bed with me, much to Mrs G’s annoyance (my Sony never got into bed with me). I am using some of the web apps that are out there on a daily basis so it’s going to be interesting when they start distributing real apps via iTunes to see how much more they will enhance the phone.
We are currently speaking to clients about possible apps on the device and now the SDK is out we are very excited about creating some stuff. If we get 3G and GPRS on the next model then it’s gonna get even better.
I have an idea for an app, although it will probably a web based app as I cannot see any advantages why it needs to be developed in XCode, I’ve just got to find some time to sketch it out.
