It’s taken 7 months from start to finish…. I remember sitting round a pool at Sharm-el-Sheik in March sketching some ideas for the new Channel 4 Sales website.
We built their previous B2B website 3 years earlier, and following an external consultancy review of the website we were able to retain their business and rebuild the website.
This time round was different, we’ve grown up a little more and so has the web. We knew we had to lean towards a more User-Centric-Design (UCD) approach, the previous website had been more style than substance – it looked great but it certainly had issues such as the Flash navigation and too many colours. We had to take the viewpoint that this website has a real purpose, it is after all Channel 4 Televisions B2B site, and when you client needs to turnover almost £1bn revenue with Advertising, Sponsorship etc the proposition becomes even more serious.
We tested early and used good common sense web design principles to improve usability…. yep, we did tone back the design but looking at the analytics so far the site is getting so much more use and it will continue to grow as we expand it and add more features.
The website gets officially launched in January 09 and it is in it’s live beta stage at present.
In the meantime, we review, test and make it even better!
